Call for Submissions | Terroir: A Nova Scotia Survey
July 6, 2015 - In May 2015, the Art Galley of Nova Scotia opened Terroir: a Nova Scotia Retrospective.
Part of a multi-phased project, Terroir: a Nova Scotia Retrospective celebrates the Gallery’s Permanent Collection with particular attention paid to its Nova Scotia roots. Historical and cultural events have contributed to the flavour of our cultural heritage and Terroir gets to those roots, drawing out the rich character of this province.
In an effort to explore the reach of this legacy, will are launching the second phase, Terroir: A Nova Scotia Survey.
Open to artists whose work reflects the historical and cultural influence of the Province of Nova Scotia.
The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is calling for artist submissions. Please include the following information:
- Artist’s statement
- Bio (250 words max)
- Highlight work created in the last 5 years
- CV (3 pages max)
- 2 critical reviews or letters of support from a member of the arts community
- 10 images
- Hard copy submissions via USB, CD, DVD or digital submissions via email or FTP
Terroir: A Nova Scotia Survey is a celebration of Nova Scotia’s contemporary artists – both acclaimed and unknown. A diversity of artistic mediums are encouraged and this unique opportunity is open to all.
The artists’ submissions will be reviewed by a committee of curators including Sarah Fillmore, Chief Curator at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia; David Diviney, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and a guest curator from outside the region.
The deadline for submissions is October 15, 2015.
Hard Copy Submissions: Packages can be mailed or dropped off to the information desk at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax. (1723 Hollis Street, PO Box 2262, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 3C8 Attn: Sue Melvin) For mailing please include a USB, CD or DVD of your files.
Digital Submissions: UNDER 10 mb email all files to Sue Melvin email@example.com. Submissions must be contained to one email. Multiple email submissions will not be accepted. Submissions OVER 10 mb must be sent via Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s FTP service. To use the service please email Sue Melvin for upload instructions. Other file transfer services will not be accepted.
